The Chicago Cubs have closed a deal with reliever/closer, Craig Kimbrel, per Ken Rosenthal.
Earlier today, Cubs president of baseball operations, Theo Epstein, stated, “I think we have a number of relievers throwing well. But you’re always trying to get better out there, too, and we’ve been open about the fact that at some point we’ll probably get some help from outside the organization.”
Ken Rosenthal tweeted this out moments ago:
Kimbrel has a 1.91 ERA in nine seasons. In 2018 he posted a 2.74 ERA with 96 strikeouts in 62.1 innings pitched.
7:48 PM update: it is a multi-year deal per Rosenthal.
8:19 PM update: 3 year deal for 45 million per Rosenthal.
