Iowa Cubs 4, New Orleans Baby Cakes 2

Top Three Performers

1 SP Trevor Clifton– 5.2 innings pitched, two hits allowed, one earned run, one walk, and five strikeouts

2 RF Mark Zagunis– 2-3, two singles, one run scored, and one RBI

3 LF Chris Coghlan, 1-1, one solo home run

The Iowa Cubs are now 42-73 this season. Starting pitcher Trevor Clifton earned his third win of the season, and is now 3-2 with an ERA of 3.69. Left Fielder Chris Coghlan hit his second home run of the season in the third inning off Zac Gallen.

Tennessee Smokies 2, Biloxi Shuckers 3

Top Three Performers

1 SS Zack Short– 2-2, two walks, one solo home run.

2 SP Michael Rucker– 6 innings pitched, one hit allowed, one earned run, one walk, and four strikeouts

3 1B Yasiel Balaguert– 1-4, one solo home run

The Smokies are now 57-59 overall and 21-25 in the second half. Zack Short hit his 14th home run of the season, and brought in his 50th RBI. Yasiel Balaguert hit his 8th home run, earning his 54th RBI of the year.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans 6, Wilmington Blue Rocks 5

Top Three Performers

1 LF Jared Young– 1-4, one three-run home run.

2 SP- Cory Abbott– 5 innings pitched, four hits allowed, two earned runs, one walk, four strikeouts.

DH Roberto Caro– 2-4, one run scored, one double

The Pelicans are now51-65 overall, and 17-29 in the second half. Starting pitcher Cory Abbott earned his third win on the season. Zach Davis hit his first home run of the season, while Jared Young hit his fifth, and Andrew Monasterio hit his third. All three home runs hit for the Pelicans were hit in the third inning.

South Bend Cubs 3, Great Lakes Loons 6

Top Three Performers

1 1B-C Miguel Amaya– 3-4, one walk, one RBI double

2 DH Delvin Zinn– 1-3, one run scored, one RBI

3 2B Clayton Daniel– 2-5, one run scored

The South Bend Cubs are now 54-62 overall, and 20-26 in the second half. Starting pitcher  Brendon Little went 4.2 innings giving up 8 hits, three runs (two earned), two walks, and striking out five. Miguel Amaya hit his 20th double of the season, and brought in his 48th RBI.
