The Chicago Cubs are making “inroads” to try to land starting pitcher, Cole Hamels, from the Texas Rangers per Joel Sherman of MLB Network and NY Post.
It is evident that the Cubs are looking for a starter or reliever and Hamels may just be their guy. Cole has struggled this year, posting a 4.72 ERA in 114.1 innings. This is his worst year since joining the MLB, but he has showed that he can be a stud. In 2016 he tallied over 200 innings pitched with a 3.32 ERA.
Hamels is set to become a free agent in 2020 which means he will not be just a “rental” if the Cubs acquire him.
