Cubs fall out of lead for Britton, pursuing Bundy and Gausman per reports

The Chicago Cubs have fallen out of the lead for Zach Britton, but they are now in talks with the Orioles for Dylan Bundy or Kevin Gausman per Ken Rosenthal.

Rosenthal says that the Cubs are still talking with the Orioles about Britton, but it appears that they are not as engaged. This does not mean that the Cubs won’t acquire him before the July 31st deadline. They will still pursue him and hope another team does not make a better offer. Ken went on to say that Chicago has talked to Baltimore about two of their starters, Dylan Bundy and Kevin Gausman.

Gausman is sitting at a 2.1 WAR this season with an era of 4.54, while Bundy has posted a 4.57 ERA with a 1.2 WAR.

@charlesmeow (who has been a trusted source) says to not buy into Rosenthal’s report about the Cubs going after an Orioles starter. So, who is right? I’m agreeing with Charles for now because he has been a legitimate source for over a year, but we shall see.

What move will the Cubs make? Will they get Britton? Will they go after Bundy or Gausman? Follow us on Twitter @1N2W_ for the latest trade deadline news.
