The Chicago Cubs are expected to call up Dillon Maples per reports.
Charles (who has been first on many Cubs trades and call ups) tweeted this a short time ago:
Maples worked his way up the minor league system in 2017 by posting a combined 2.27 ERA (Pelicans, Smokies, I Cubs). He did get a shot with the Cubs last year, but did not play his best baseball, posting a 10.13 ERA in six games. Dillon has a 3.47 ERA in 24 games at AAA Iowa this season. Maples had some command trouble to start this season, but he has found his stroke as of late.
Charles states, “if he’s able to command his stuff consistently, it’s the best stuff in the bullpen and that’s including CJ and Morrow.”
