The Chicago Cubs are expected to make one or more roster moves in the next 48 hours per multiple sources.
Charles (who has been first on many trades) tweeted this:
Ian Happ and Luke Farrell could be making the trip to Iowa. Happ has struggled at the plate this year posting a -0.2 WAR along with a .228 batting average. Ian has also struck out in 45% of his plate appearances. Farrell will more then likely be the other player heading down to the minors after giving up back-to-back walkoff homers. He has posted a 7.94 ERA in his short stint with the Cubs.
This is where things get tricky, who will get called up for Happ? Some names that come to mind right away are Chris Coghlan, Lane Adams, and Mark Zagunis. My guess is Zugunis will get the call, because Coghlan is in the extended Arizona league, while Adams just got signed. Justin Hancock and Dillon Maples are two names that are being discussed as well. Maples has pitched 9.1 innings out of the pen for the Iowa Cubs and posted a 2.89 ERA. Hancock has struggled a little bit more, posting a 4.05 ERA in 13.1 IP. We also have Butler, who has been on the DL. Could he be getting activated soon?
These moves are not official yet, but we expect them to become official within the next few days. Follow us @1N2W_ as we will update you on the latest Cubs news.
