Yes, you read the title correctly, Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo believes a bed put him on the disabled list.
Rizzo told Jesse Rogers (ESPN Chicago reporter) that he believes the beds in Cincinnati caused him to have lower back tightness. Rizzo stated, “I think the next time I go [to Cincinnati], I’ll sleep on the floor.. I just have to take better care of myself.” Rizzo battled through the pain for one game, but he went 0-5 (Against the Brewers) so he decided to shut it down for a while.
Anthony has struggled at the plate so far this season only hitting one homer with three RBI’s. His average is sitting at .107, while his OBP is at .219. These are not numbers that you expect Rizzo to put up, but you have to remember that it is the start of the season.
