According to @CharIsMeow on Twitter, the Cubs have extended an “invite” to veteran, Ichiro Suzuki.
Suzuki’s $2 million option was declined by the Marlins a few days ago so, where does he best fit?
You could make a case for many teams. The Mariners, Rockies, and even the Cubs make sense. Suzuki is the obvious veteran in any clubhouse, which is why most teams could use him. The Cubs are looking to replace David Ross, who had the veteran role in 2016. It’s now clear to see the Cubs are missing that veteran presence in the clubhouse.
Ichiro batted .255 with only 196 ABs last year with the Marlins.
