The Cubs have just received some more bullpen help in LHP Rob Zastryzny.
The Cubs added Dillon Maples to their bullpen just days ago, and now they have added another pitcher. Zastryzny has posted a 1.04 ERA in 8.2 innings with the Cubs this year, but don’t get too happy. With AAA Iowa Rob has not posted the best ERA… In 47.0 innings pitched he has a 5.94 ERA and a WHIP of 1.36.
The Cubs do have one of the better bullpens in the MLB, but some of their pitchers are not doing so well. Koji Uheara has not been pitching that well lately, as it seems that he gives up a home run in every outing that he pitches in. Justin Wilson is another name that comes to mind. Wilson has not pitched great since being with the Cubs, but he has been doing better lately and I believe he will be fine. Carl Edwards Jr. did have a rough month of August, but I think that he is back to his regular self.
The Cubs calling up Maples and Zastryzny can be a huge for this bullpen. This gives the Cubs a little more depth, and it gives some players the breaks that they need.
