In a few weeks the MLB rosters expand, and I’m almost positive we will see some new bullpen pieces.
The Cubs bullpen is still one of the best in the MLB, but with Justin WIlson struggling and Koji Uehara just off the DL they may want a few more faces in the pen.
I believe that Rob Zastryzny will be one of the players getting the call. This year with the Cubs Zastryzny has pitched four innings and posted and posted a 6.75 ERA. While in Iowa he has not posted a good ERA either, he is sitting at 6.57 ERA in AAA. I do think he has what it takes to be a efficient MLB pitcher, though.
Another arm that we could see is Dillon Maples. This year Maples has shot up in the minors with an outstanding 1.50 ERA. I think that he could actually be a huge help to the Cubs pen, he has 24 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched this year in Iowa.
Eddie Butler will probably be another pitcher that comes up. Butler has spent some time on the Cubs roster this year, and in that time he posted just below a 4.00 ERA in 54.2 innings pitched. He can be used as a starter, but I think they will put him in the pen. Since Butler has been in Iowa he has posted a 2.17 ERA.
We may see a few more people come up, but I see these happening the most. Follow us on twitter @1N2W_ for updates when the rosters expand.
