The Chicago Cubs have been without one of their best players in Willson Contreras, but it appears that he will be back soon.
Willson has been on the DL for about a week now, and a lot of fans were worried what yesterday’s acquisition may have meant. Some people thought that acquiring Rene Rivera meant that Willson would be out for longer than expected or maybe even the year, but we found out that he is doing well.
Two days ago Bob Nightengale (BNightengale on twitter) stated that Willson told Joe Maddon he “is feeling well, and he still hopes to return by early to mid September.” Today @Cubs_Live on tweeted that Contreras was on the field working out and re-habing. This is very good news as it seems he may be a little bit ahead of schedule. The Cubs have been playing a lot better lately, but I know Cub fans would still love to have his bat in the lineup.
