Talks stir of a Justin Grimm send down, and a Dillon Maples call up.

After a crazy game resulting in a Cubs loss vs. the Reds on Thursday, talks stirred literally minutes after about reliever, Justin Grimm, being sent back down to Iowa, and calling up young pitching stud, Dillon Maples. Grimm earned the loss in Thursday’s game by giving up 2 earned off of a homer in the 7th. His ERA rises to 5.40 on the season, and record drops to 1-2.

As for 25 year old RHP Dillon Maples, he is tearing up the minor leagues, and soon the big leagues. Maples has been in Myrtle Beach, Tennessee, and Iowa this year. Here are his stats for each:

Mrytle Beach Pelicans

Record: 4-0     ERA: 2.01     IP: 31.1     SO: 44

Tennessee Smokies

Record: 1-1     ERA: 3.29     IP: 13.2     SO: 28

Iowa Cubs

Record: 1-2     ERA: 2.63     IP: 13.2     SO: 23

This combines for a record of 6-3, a 2.45 ERA, 95 strikeouts, in 58.2 innings pitched.

Here is where it was first reported (may not look like a real source but. he was the first to post the trade with the Tigers):
