The Red Sox acquire pitcher Addison Reed from the Mets for three prospects

The New York Mets have moved their closer, Addison Reed, to Boston per …

The Basics: Reed has posted an outstanding 2.57 ERA in 49.0 innings of work out of New York’s bullpen to this point in 2017. Reed has struck out fourth-eight batters and accumulated an efficient WHIP of 1.12. The right hand pitcher is only a rental as he’s slated to hit the market this offseason.

How Reed Can Help: Reed can be another rock out of Boston’s good bullpen, currently ranked third in all of baseball with a 3.03 ERA. The Red Sox are currently in a race for the AL East with their rival the Yankees, and this reliever will really help them.

The Return: Right now we know three prospects are headed the other way. One of these prospects is reliever Gerson Bauista. In the minors this year Bauista has posted a 5.16 ERA in 27 games. Jamie Callahan and Stephen Nogoshek are the other pieces headed to New York. Callahan has posted a 4.03 ERA in 22 minor league games, while Nogoshek has posted a 4.08 ERA in 13 minor league games.
