The Orioles acquire Jermey Hellickson from the Phillies

The Baltimore Orioles have acquired Jermey Hellickson from the Phillies per Jon Heyman.

The Basics: Hellickson has posted a 4.73 ERA in 112.1 innings of work for the Phillies to this point in 2017. Hellickson has struck out sixty-five batters and accumulated a 1.26 WHIP. He is being used as a rental this season and will hit the free agent market when this season is over. The Orioles might try to resign him, though if they like what they see this year.

How can he help: Jermey will attempt to help a struggling Orioles rotation. Currently the Orioles are ranked 48-53 and they are fourth in their division. I honstley do not see the Orioles making the playoffs, but I guess you never know!

Who is head to Philadelphia

23 year old LHP, Garrett Cleavinger will be headed the other way in the trade. In AA this year Cleavinger has posted a 2-4 record with a 6.28 ERA in 38.2 IP.
