Chicago Cubs outfielder Matt Szczur was designated for assignment yesterday, which means that his time with the Cubs is more than likely over.
Matt has been with the Cubs since 2014 and he has been liked by everyone since. In his four years with Chicago he posted a .243 BA with 8 home runs and 40 RBI’s.
Even though Matt did not play much over his four years he still has some great memories including his grand slam against the Braves last year, and a world series ring (can’t beat that).
Chicago Cub fans are still holding hope that the Cubs can get him back, but if they do not we all wish him the best no matter where he goes.
There were more roster moves along with Szczur. The Chicago Cubs called up relief pitcher Justin Grimm and IF Tommy La Stella from Triple A. Brett Anderson would be placed on the DL ( have not seen that before) and Rob Zastryzny would be sent back to Triple A.
Grimm is not having the best of years so far as he has posted a 7.30 ERA on the year, but he hopes he can turn it around. La Stella has only been to the plate six times so far and he has a .250 batting average.
